Miss Leah's "You Are My Sunshine" Birthday Party

This was a birthday party for granddaughter, Leah, last week.  The banner was created using the Cricut "Baby Shower" cartridge for the pennants and the font from the Lovely Floral cartridge for the name.  The cute little sunshines were cut from the "Create a Critter" cartridge.  Had really hoped for a way to hang them from the tree branches, but wasn't able to, so we just hung them on the window.

We served lemonade from jelly jars.  Just take the insert out of the lid and replace it with a 2 3/4" circle and punch a hole for the straws.  Using the shadow feature on the cartridge, we cut the suns for the front of the jars and attached them using some yellow jute from American Crafts.

This was a fun scrapbook page that we used for a table decoration, and then everyone at the party wrote a note on it.  It will be put in Leah's scrapbook, along with all the fun pictures from her party.

We weren't able to have our favorite cake artist make the cake for this party, so we attempted it ourselves!  It turned out pretty cute, don't you think??  We made it with 2- 9" layers,  iced it with yellow, and decorated it to look like the cute little sunshines we cut from the Cricut.  The triangles were cut from Bo Bunny double-dot paper and stuck between the layers to complete our sun.  Here's an important TIP -  don't stick the triangles in the cake until right before you put it on the table.  We made the mistake of putting them in the night before, and you can see what happened.  The paper soaked up the oil from the cake!  Oh, well, it was still cute.

Here's the birthday girl wearing her hat! The hat was cut at 8" from the Cricut "Life's a Party" cartridge and decorated with a small sunshine and some bright ribbons.

Crate Paper's Maggie Holmes line was one of my favorite CHA releases this year.  Within the line she released a mini clipboard with several fun pages.  Once dressed up with all the new tags and bows, it is absolutely adorable!  Great for pictures and journaling!

Here's a sneak peek at some of the pages!

What a great gift idea for the baseball or softball player in your family.  Love these 8" letters we have in the store, but for a longer name, just use our 3.5" letters!  Start rounding up an old bat and get started!
